Now forced to create business policies?

I changed my handling time during the strike and now wanted to edit it. Seems like listings created shipping policies by itself and i cannot edit anything shipping related anymore. I can only select a shipping policy.

Same thing seems to happen for payments and returns, seems like they both have automated policies.

Is that something normal? Things changed or am i facing a bug?

Sreenshot added. You can see there is no shipping options at all other than dimensions, and selecting a created shipping policy.

Misunderstood before.  Yes this is how the edit page is when business policies get enabled.  All listings use the policies instead.

To opt out of business policies:

https://www.ebay.ca/help/selling/business-policies/business-policies?id=4212

"You can opt out any time by selecting the Opt out link on the Manage business policies page. Your active listings won't be affected, but if you want to make changes to payment, shipping and returns terms, you’ll need to do that individually on each listing in future.  You can also opt back in to business policies at any time; however your old policies will be deleted when you opt out. You will need to create new policies and associate your listings to them using a bulk editing tool if you opt back in."

Re: Now forced to create business policies?

Happened to me as well several months ago. I don't remember what i did that triggered it specifically. It was a bit of a pain to get it all setup at the time but now that i use them editing listings has become so much easier so it's probably worth the effort to set them up now once and be done with it.

I don't think it's a bug, i know i definetley did something to cause it, i just wasn't expecting it would have at the time but logterm it's been better anyways.

@rocketscollectibles

I have tested business policies on several occasions.  Each time I did it corrupted my store so was forced to opt out. I had too many listings that needing amending. Does it give you the option to opt out?

Your screenshot has 'Edit Policy'...does nothing happen when you select that option?

(If you have an ad blocker add-on, disable it)

Re: Now forced to create business policies?

Bussiness Policies workd great for the type of items you sell (same as myself sportscards).

There is very little variation in what your going to be charging to ship for most items, so you really only need like 3-4 policies in theory, and they are very easy to edit and make mass changes to all listings once its up and running (does take a bit of time to merge them all to the proper policy, but once thats done usually smooth sailing)

Yeah so for whatever reason it was because i got opted in for business policies! Either i clicked by mistake or was a bug. But i just had to opt out!

Will for sure check later. Just not a good timing with the strike to start working on this, already a lot of work and issues to fix before.

I use drafts that i copy anyway everything is already set like policies.

Re: Now forced to create business policies?

I do the same, sell similar off an existing listing.

I updated my 4 policies in under 2 minutes and my lettermail rates are back and running for 21K listings.

Definitiley look into it at a later date, I find it quick and easy to work with once its set up 🙂

Re: Now forced to create business policies?

Yes!!! I just spent nearly 4 hours on chat being gaslit by ebay to believe nothing had changed only to be finally offered "Hey do you want to just opt out and go back to entering it manually?" Yes YES?!?! The exact thing u first denied existed now all of a sudden, it's ONE CLICK of a toggle switch?? Immediately back to normal but now I have to check each of my 225 ads because a good portion of my listings now have effd up shipping .already lost 1 sale over it kept telling customer I don't ship to their state, when I never set restrictions before. Anywhoo, it took 4 hours for me so I will pass on the solution. Click on "opt out" under business policies. The end. You're welcome. I darn near quit ebay after 23 years today 🤣

Re: Now forced to create business policies?

Yes there is an option out toggle. I swear ebay did this, it was like all of a sudden I didn't know how to create a new listing and I've been doing this a long time, and it sure felt like ebay was trying to gaslight me into believing nothing has changed and to try to learn how to use this "opted in" way of doing it. I don't think I've ever.seen the screen where I would have had to go to in order to turn it on myself?? And to take almost 4 hours to offer to show me how to opt out? Like they just thought of it? Bizzare experience today. I thought it was losing my marbles for half the day
