I received an e-mail this morning from PayPal (a legitimate one) which says in part:
Congratulations on the sale you just made.
Are you ready to ship? Use our new, integrated shipping tool to pay for your shipment, print your shipping label, request parcel pickup and automatically track your package, all within your PayPal account.
I didn't think this was anything new since I usually ship through PayPal; however, it requests that I link my PayPal account with my Canada Post Solutions for Small Business Account for up to a 47% discount. Again, I thought I had always been linked but I've never seen discounts like that. I googled "How do I link my PayPal account ........Canada Post" and saw instructions which I don't currently see on my PayPal account. This might be nothing or it might mean that I'm not getting the discount I should be getting. It's maybe 10% at best.
Is there something I don't know 🙂 Thanks.

The Canada Post Solutions for Small Business membership has 4 levels of discounts. Level 1 has the smallest discounts, Level 4 has the highest discount.
Level 1 -- when you have under $2500 of Canada Post shipping in the last 12 months.
Level 4 -- over $7500 in Canada Post shipping over the last 12 months.
If you sign in to the Canada Post website, you can check your current SfSB level.
...
Coming next month: free shipping Tuesdays (1 free shipment in Canada each Tuesday if bought via Canada Post's Snap Ship program).

Thanks @ypdc_dennis -- that makes sense. My lower discount correlates with my Solutions for Small Business level so that confirms that my accounts are linked. I must keep in mind that there are always new sellers signing up who need the information contained in these types of e-mails.
I already have my calendar marked for the five Tuesdays in October. A treat for my birthday month!!

I got this offer a few weeks ago:
Reduce your shipping costs by taking an additional 25 per cent off your already-reduced rate on parcels within Canada every time you ship. Here’s how:
1. Use your Solutions for Small Business customer number and sign in to Canada Post Snap Ship. 2. Prepare your shipping label. 3.
Enter PLUS25 in the promo code* field to receive 25 per cent off XpresspostTM or Expedited ParcelsTM until September 30, 2019.
I use postage stamps purchased at a greater discount and only buy labels for a few pennies to make up the rate and give me a bar code, but it may be worthwhile to mention it to others.

It wouldn’t matter where you sell as it is not an eBay promotion.

Worth trying, but the offer of 25% off is only available to some SfSB members...
Free October Tuesday is for all SfSB members.

PayPal might also be showing off their deal with netParcel as part of the updated layout.

I didn't get the offer. I don't know if I will be able to use the free shipping in October either because I don't want to change to seller hub, so I can't get the email address of the buyer.

Although I do use Seller Hub now, I can still opt in and opt out as desired...
Buyer email address can still be accessed in Selling Manager

The free October Tuesday shipment (limit one per day) is NOT through eBay -- the offer is only good if you buy the label on the Canada Post website. Copy and paste the shipping address. Does require a valid credit card (even with a shipping charge of zero). Manually mark the ebay order as shipped and manually enter the tracking number.
Why do you need the email address of the buyer?

But those are not mandatory.
And some just use their own.

To ship with Snap ship, they require an email address, I have shipped family packages that way quite a few times.

Snap Ship does not require a buyer email address -- that is completely optional.
I always leave it blank. You only have to enter an email if you want Canada Post to send tracking updates directly -- if you have updated the eBay order details, the Buyer can view the tracking through eBay.

I don't see a way to find an email address in Selling Manager if the seller has been switched to the new version. There is no 'view record' or anything similar like that in the dropdown. Do you know where it would show up?

I found it in selling manager, but only before label has been printed, or confirmation of shipping, after that, when you click on the transaction, the eBay listing comes up.

Selling Manager>Sold>
However, at the moment I don't have any items that have not been shipped so cannot verify what is or isn't visible prior to marked as shipped - perhaps the email address doesn't show there until after marked shipped. I rarely use the buyer email address; never have had the need so never go looking for it.

If the shipping label is prepared and you don't have an email address until it is printed, you could write it on the parcel /label when you do have it.
It's my understanding that the purpose of the email/telephone contact is to let the customer know when the parcel is ready for pickup or when duty needs to be paid.
So having it handwritten shouldn't be a problem.
