A pricey item sold May 1st and they charged us a "Promoted Listing General Fee" today, June 6th.
We can't find anywhere where it shows there was a promoted listing sale for this item in our records and we take screengrabs of everything. There is no mention in any invoice, receipt, message, order info, or accounts until today.
It very speficially DOES NOT say "Sold via Promoted Listings" in the orders area as it does on many other items.
Why the delay? Why no mention of Promoted Listings anywhere? And how does eBay provide proof of Promoted Listings?
Has anyone else run across this, and if so what steps did they take to address the issue?

The same here. Item not marked as "Sold via Promoted Listings", yet I got today PL charge - 2 months after the sale.

I just checked... 2 items on my side... All billed today for items sold in april!
What is happening! That is NOT ok to do that, devon@ebay . Specifically when not notifying sellers!
We are calculating everything on per item basis. Excel sheets, internal system, to calculate profits, etc. We are waiting a few hours to make sure the system update the promoted fees.
It breaks everything..... Why is this happening?

Unsure what everyone elses opinion on this but from a personal perspective promoted fees should be a just an additional line item to FVF's for a listing. Not a separate stand alone line. This "can" cause additional tax being collected per transaction due to rounding. It may be a penny per transaction but over time this will add up. Plus it would simplify having a total charge vs having to do the math each time something sells as a promoted listing. One shouldn't need to be creating a spreadsheet to discover total fees.
As a side, nothing current for myself but I have spotted promoted fees being charged at later dates on a few occasions.

It is on a different line.
The problem is that we should not have to wait 2 months to know if an item was sold promoted or not and for how much fees.
2 months is a very long time to know if an item is profitable or not and for how much.
As for spreadsheet, we use calculations (our cost, cost of time to list, ads fees, FVF, etc, etc) to know our exact profit on each item. Now, we only know after 2 months on some items? It's not acceptable.

Yep, happened to me too. Came here to report it. Happy to see I'm not alone.
Sold an item on May 6th - was NOT sold via Promoted Listings (I also record every sale in a spreadsheet and whether or not it sold as a Promoted Listing). Billed today June 6th for Promoted fees.
For those that don't promote, the promoted listing fee shows as a separate line item pretty much immediately after the sale is made (so the date of the transaction is the same date as the sale). It is not normal for them to be showing up a month later, let alone on items that weren't originally sold as Promoted.
For anyone that does promote, I highly recommend you look at your payment summary to see if this happened to you. Honestly, I pretty much never check this tab in Seller Hub but by happenstance I looked at it today - if I hadn't I never would have even noticed this charge.

I checked mine, I so far don't have any, my store's been closed since about May 12 but I've got no old stuff showing up from before it was closed......

Ok guys, it's a widespread bug. There's a thread on ebay US too
https://community.ebay.com/t5/Selling/Charged-promoted-fees-months-later/m-p/35117194
Someone said they spoke to an agent and they are working on it and those fees would be reimbursed... But since it's coming from an agent... we would need confirmation from devon@ebay

I just ended ALL my promoted ads.
I won't reactivate that feature until this is fixed.
If it's a glitch, will wait for them to confirm.
If not a glitch, I won't use that feature at all. Not a good marketing move from eBay if this on purpose.

Funny how most, if not all of these "bugs", actually put more money into eBay's pockets, rather than into those of its faithfull sellers...🙄

They had the major bug a while ago where they didn't charge the FVF or labels for some shipments. Many of the bugs take money out of both pockets in terms of lost sales.

Can you or someone share a screen capture image of how it was charged?

Hi @tryubik-useonlyasdirected! There is an open ticket for sellers being charged for a promoted listing fee for any item sold months ago under ALERT15992. If there are any sellers that have had this happen, please let them know to reach out to customer support and have their account along with the order number added to the ticket as an example.

Sure. If I go to Payments --> Summary in Seller Hub then this is how it shoes in the list.
If I click on the little red arrow on the right-hand side then it shows me further transaction details including the order it applies to (in this case, an order from May 6, 2025).
