I'm just wondering if anyone was shipping anything to the U.S. when the Trump assassination attempt happened. I had two shipments in the U.S. and both seemed like they were held in customs for several days.
I don't know what's normal since I'm new at this but one said it was HELD IN CUSTOMS on the 13th, then IN TRANSIT on the 14th and then HELD IN CUSTOMS again on the 15th. They both spent 3 days in customs. Is that normal or could it be a heightened security situation?

Are these items being shipped directly through the postal system or are they going through an intermediary such as the eBay International Shipping service?
If they're being "held in customs" and shipped directly through USPS and Canada Post, the hold should be up here in Canada, not in the United States.

This is one reason that after being an obsessive tracking geek for years, I came to the conclusion that following tracking slavishly is a mug's game and that we buyers have been oversold on the value of tracking. It gives buyers the illusion of control over the shipment and then they get frustrated when problems actually do occur and they realize they don't have that control.
Stop checking on the tracking of your item for now and don't worry about what's happening or not happening to your item until just before the last estimated date of delivery. It doesn't matter.

I also had a few items I'd shipped to the US held in customs a few days recently. Myself I chalked it up to summer holidays and maybe less people on staff. The packages did go through and were delivered. Once the release from customs everything was pretty quick. My situation was just before the Trump attempt so I think it was more of a slower moving summer thing.

Although Trump himself may be a fiasco, I highly doubt there is any connection between him and shipping delays....what makes you think everything revolves around the antics of such a person? I don't think shipping and/or mail delivery came to a halt when other previous and/or similar incidents happened in the USA...

What day of the week did it arrive?
The attempt was on the weekend, when the plant would be open, but may normally be short-staffed.
Since the plant is pretty heavily automated, stuff may be getting scanned several times on its way to the appropriate truck
And of course, tracking doesn't tell you where something is, it tells you where it has been.
What is the last day of the estimated delivery window that eBay gave you?
Has that day passed.
