Finally, I decided to send a polite message to the seller and he has cooperated and accept to remove all the pictures, but I had other cases that pictures has been copied and eBay, most of the time do NOTHING....why put a ''report item'' link when nothing is done.

How would eBay know the difference between a seller with a legitimate complaint of stolen images and a seller who just wants to make life difficult for a competitor?

How did you indicate to eBay that the photos were indeed yours?

Hi my_secret_box,

Please drop me an email with the item numbers in question so we can have Trust & Safety review them.

Isn't there a clause in the UA that by uploading and displaying images to ebay you give Ebay implied consent to use them ?

It makes perfect sense to have 1 description and set of pictures for a product even if multiple sellers are offering it. Amazon is doing it and Ebay is doing it on some products.

@dipmicro : in that case, photos were not used by eBay, but by another seller. 😉 Probably too lazy to take his own pictures....

Re: TO KALVIN---EBAY DO NOTHING--SELLER HAS COPY MY PICTURES

I have this problem as well. I have reported dozens of sellers using my pics and eBay does nothing most of the time.  Is there certain protocal that eBay has to follow that deems the photo's unqualified for removal or do they randomly select a couple of complaints to deal with and delete the rest due to lack of time?  I have 1 in my watch list right now that I have reported a few times already.....waiting.....waiting......nothing.   I understand that if there are bids on an item then they might have to leave it alone so the bidders don't get in a tif but for BIN items and multiquantity listings.........that pic is mine and I want the seller to change theirs.

It takes time and effort to take good pics so I don't like when people just copy them and upload to their listings.  I have the original pic on my computer in a folder to prove that I own the original.

I have also found quite a few listing from other sellers that have taken my pic and changed it a bit to avoid the similarity.  They will crop it differently or change the size.  What can I do about those?

Re: TO KALVIN---EBAY DO NOTHING--SELLER HAS COPY MY PICTURES

Worse than the problem of stolen pictures, the item being pictured will not be the item the buyer gets.

There are a couple of workarounds.

The first is to watermark your photos with something that identifies it as yours. I wouldn't suggest the address of your own website, because that would be pushing it.

The second is nastier. When you spot one of your photos being used, switch it on the photohost with something the other seller would not like. Perhaps a note saying "This photo was stolen from michaelbb2"  or more subtle "Fastest service and lowest prices from michaelbb2" or something embarrassing.

By the way I was really impressed with your clear pictures. You use a scanner right?

Thanks for the tips, It will take me a while to revise all my items with an updated watermarked photo.  I will watermark all new listings for sure. I use a nikon camera with light filtering tricks to reduce flash glare. I used a scanner a few years ago...it was quicker but the pics weren't as good.  I found I had better sales with exceptional photo's......so do others obviously......

I am wondering if you sell a coin for $1.25 with free shipping, and paid Paypal fees, is there any profit at all? I am not being critical, just wondering.

Re: TO KALVIN---EBAY DO NOTHING--SELLER HAS COPY MY PICTURES

First you need to break down the monthly store fees ($20 or $50) per individual listing.  Typically $0.05 to $0.20 depending on store level and number of listings, assuming all listings qualify for "free insertion".

Then you have 9% FVF ($0.11)

PayPal charges $0.30 plus 2.9% (3.9% for overseas) ($0.34)

Shipping requires an envelope, some packaging for the coin, stiffener maybe, and postage (varies based on destination).

And, finally, put some value for time.

Assuming the minimum wage at $10.00 per hour or $0;17 per minute, there is no way possible to "make a profit".

Re: TO KALVIN---EBAY DO NOTHING--SELLER HAS COPY MY PICTURES

You are right pierre, 1.25 with free shipping nets me near nothing for canadian transactions.  I do charge shipping to international customers though. More times than not, a 2nd item or more is purchased in the same transaction. My profit will be the price of the postage and packaging saved for the 2nd item for domestic orders.  Selling on eBay is not my primary income so I don't need to make large profits.  At least for now.
