Unadvertised Canada Post "Customer Appreciation" Sale - Includes Flat Rate Boxes

Starting today (Feb 3) and continuing until Feb 28, Canada Post is running a special sale "to thank Canadians for their patience and show them we value their business". These apply ONLY to transactions done in person at the post office, and do not apply to online orders/transactions.

Discounts include 10% on all scale transactions through the post office (excluding Lettermail), although I will note that you'll still get better rates purchasing your Canada Post labels through eBay directly (or your platform of choice).

There is also a 10% discount on all XpressPost/Priority prepaid envelopes and Flat Rate Boxes. The Flat Rate Box discount is probably the most beneficial for Canadian eCommerce sellers.

There is also a 15% discount on packaging products, although I would hope most people here are sourcing packaging materials at much cheaper rates anyway lol.

This sale is for everyone, not just Solutions for Small Business customers. Discounts are taken off at checkout. I will note that this is an unprecedented sale - aside from the occasional coupon sent out for discounted Flat Rate Boxes, Canada Post has pretty much never done anything like this. I was told by higher-ups at Canada Post retail that Canada Post didn't have any plans of advertising this sale, instead utilizing word of mouth from clerks and customers - this may change, but I haven't received any emails or anything about it directly from Canada Post.

They badly need cash. This is something they should be doing. Considering their situation, 10 percent is not a massive discount when you consider what kind of interest they are likely paying.

They should have done this sale before the jump in postage costs and they should have tiered the discounts. If they had 20 percent off 4 or 5 figures of postage prior to the rise in price, I would have given them a lot of money instead of buying from a third party dealer. I can't be the only one.

I am being a bit facetious, but it is getting to the point that I am a bit nervous about the amount of value in stamps I am holding and how much I'm going to lose when they no longer exist.

I am glad you made this thread because I was about to go stock up on each size of flat rate box online.

Related to Canada Post discounts, Costco is still selling rolls of 100 P stamps for $94.XX. They don't raise the price until they have to re-order at the new price.

If you missed out on stocking up before the recent rise in price, visit your local Costco to see if they still have them. It's a $40 or so difference.

This is store specific, so YMMV.

Re: Unadvertised Canada Post "Customer Appreciation" Sale - Includes Flat Rate Boxes

Discounts are great but Canada Post really needs to improve the quality of its service.  I've been receiving packages from several different courier companies over the past several weeks.   Some no-names, some bigger ones but ALL are faster than CP and ALL were cheaper options.

A recent example.  A package from Edmonton arrived in 4 days and cost $4 less than the CP option.  I live in Toronto....the service was Canpar ground.

A package form Montreal has taken 5 days and is still 'in transit'.

Canada Post used to be my go-to for shipping.  I was a diehard and would not consider courier options.  Today i am a total convert.

At least in my PO, Tracked packet don't qualify, Canadian Expedited does (so I theorize packet=no parcel=yes). However the expedited starting number was different from my table, not sure what that was about but the final number included the 10% discount from the different start number.

It is a real pain if one comes in with stamps on the box as it doesn't show the discount till the end, and until I figure out why the start number was about 2% higher than what's on my table, I'm going to have to stick some stamps on the packs at the PO.
