I need to send a light package to Australia by tracked packet rate. On the chart that zee-chan kindly gave the International tracked packet rate is from 23.98-27.24, but when I put the stats into the Canada Post site, the rate comes up as $37.45. It weighs 98 grams and measures 30x23x1 cm.
I have tried several times slight changing the stats, but I can't get it any less, the buyer doesn't want it at that high postage rate.
Solved! Go to Solution.

Thank you, somehow I had printed the wrong chart. Tracking is so expensive.

It $53 US, so for me it's a lot to lose if it gets lost, but it does make it very expensive for the buyer.

Well either $90 (plus Australian import fees) is well worth it to her or you Cancel At Buyer's Request.
It's her decision. And presumably she's a grown up .

If loss in transit is your major concern and you regularly sell items of that value overseas, I'd consider either building up a comfortable cookie jar insurance fund or investigating third party insurance. Tracking in and of itself doesn't protect you against legitimate loss. Insurance will.
Also consider that brick and mortar retailers generally factor a certain amount of shrinkage into their business plan and many e-tailers do likewise, even though their loss rate is lower than that of B&M retailers.

I have very few items with higher prices and even fewer selling Internationally. I have just gone through my listings and removed International destinations on most higher priced items, the tracking is now just too high.

I think Zee Chan printed 2 charts - one is for over the counter CP rates and the other chart is for CP Solution for Small Bus Rates.
When you double check the rates on the Canada Post website, make sure you sign in - then it will show the discounted rate for you.
