Is it better to list in US$ price?

Hi, All,

I have a simple question here:

Currently I'm selling digital FTA receivers, since I list all items in CAN$, so almost all my buyers are canadians, do you think I can attract more US buyers by listing in US$?

Actually the benefit of listing in CAN$ is that I buy those stuff from the wholesellers in CAN$, so it's easy for me to manage accounting stuff.

Thanks

Definatly. I have always listed in USD from the beginning as it is the most well recognized currency in the world and also attracts international buyers. Remember most of eBay is USA. Canadian buyers are able to view items you list in US in CAD anyways. You can easily convert in PayPal or many people (at least I think) have US accounts as well.

I agree with Modern_tech. Listing in US dollars will attract more US and international buyers which equal more sales.

I tried listing in Canadian dollars for awhile and found that US customers had no clue about exchange rates or that Paypal could automatically convert for them. It wound up being a huge headache educating almost every US customer the price difference and exchange rates.

I did benefit in having a few US customers who, for instance, bought something for $20.00 Canadian and would pay me $20.00 US because they couldn't be bothered with the hassle.

Another perk in selling in US funds is that your item looks less expensive. If you listed an item for $12 Canadian it may not sell, but list it at $9.99 USD (almost $12 Canadian) then there's a better chance it'll sell.

Alex.

I agree with the others - US dollars is the only way to list - both for the item you are selling and the shipping costs.
I sell all over the world - everyone understands US dollars - no hassles, no conversion explanations, etc.

Hi everyone! I just became a powerseller and I'm wondering if this logo will attract more buyers and increase sales.

Not really, no.

However, it might may a potential Buyer feel more comfortable with you & lible to bid (higher).

I think it is more important to have a high feedback then the powerseller status for buyers.

I always listed in US dollars even in Canadian website. Most of my customers from United States that's very convenient for them.

I don't display my Power seller logo. I've seen posts from buyers who feel Power Sellers are too busy to give good service, so choose not to buy from Power sellers.

I can probably live without buyers who make those kinds of stupid generalizations.

I only list in Canadian Dollars... since shipping to the US is a hassle with customs and whatnot (And US is able to get items locally for A LOT cheaper), I focus on the Canadian Market... and it's worked out well for me.

Also, I don't have to do a lot of conversion and messing around when calculating GST, and filing my taxes... 🙂
