Active Listings Disappearing in Seller Hub

This afternoon I have noticed several active listings disappear in my Seller Hub. I should have 2683 active listings, but all of a sudden the number of listings dropped to 2676 listings about an hour ago and just now down to 2673. The items have not ended (not showing up in unsold listings) and should not have been removed for any sort of policy violation (no message from eBay suggesting this). They are not showing up as deleted, nor is this the result of items selling. The listings have simply disappeared. The only place where it still shows as 2683 listings is in the left column of my Seller Overview page in Seller Hub. My active listings page, eBay store page and items for sale pages all currently show 2673 listings.

Is anyone else experiencing this today? I hope it is a glitch and that the listings will reappear. Otherwise, this will become an incredibly frustrating problem, as I have no way to know which ten listings have all of a sudden disappeared. I am also worried that additional listings will continue to disappear as the day goes on. Please let me know if you are experiencing this too. Is this isolated to my account or happening to numerous other sellers?

Three more of our listings just disappeared and nothing is supposed to roll over because of GTC until late tonight/into tomorrow. This problem is getting worse, not better. We need tyler@ebay or someone else to start looking into this.

Good news. All of our items reappeared around 3:35 pm (Atlantic Time). Hoping this is a one off and that the same thing doesn't happen tomorrow. We are going to monitor this over the next few days. It's a relief that everything reappeared.

Thanks for the tag @ricarmic!

Hi @ecgt - it looks like there was a tech issue over the weekend that impacted both ended auctions and Good Til Cancelled listings that were slated to renew.

I recommend checking the 'Ended' section of Seller Hub for those GTC listings, and relisting them from there. If you have auctions that ended with winning bidders that haven't yet shown back up please contact CS so they can review those individually. Thanks!

Tyler, just to be clear, the items never appeared in Ended Listings. We checked this immediately when the problem first appeared and mentioned this in the third sentence of our initial post. When the listings disappeared they disappeared completely. Please review our initial post for clarification.

It makes sense that this was a tech issue. Hopefully, it is now resolved.

I may be wrong but I think Tyler is saying they are maybe there now....after the fix?

They are gradually randomly repopulating. Only for entertainment value it is now possible to have invisible watchers you can send an offer to.

This problem "may" have returned. Seeing a discrepancy between Seller's Hub and Active Listing displays. Or maybe they are tape delay because it's the 29th of February. You have now entered the twilight zone!!!

Replacing carpet with hardwood throughout the house meant that I closed out all my book listings so I could move the bookcases.

Now that I am relisting (as Sell Similar) I have the opportunity to review each listing.

And learned that about 10% of the books I had in the bookcases were not listed at all.

This is similar to what I learned when we had the Great Currency Changeover, which led me to move some listings from dotCA to dotCOM and in 2014 when we moved house from Ottawa to Victoria.

About 10% of the product I thought was available for sale, was no longer listed.

This has been going on for decades.

It's worth doing occasional hands on inventory for long-tail products that have stopped selling.

I had a "group" of listings that seemed to disappear into thin air end of Dec 2018. Every so often I will be able to deduce one that falls under that commonality. MIA. And with no emails with ended listings any longer makes it even more difficult to pinpoint. So sadly back to the drawing board to re-create. Mostly annoying. It wasn't bad when I was under 250 listings or had access to Turbo Listing. Now closing in on 700 and the majority take some space it is much more difficult to track down these gremlins. Crazy to imagine what someone does with 1000's of listings. Not everything will fit in a file folder.

Regarding the current listing count  it seems to be a case of tape delay. If you know the item number you can find them in your ended but not relisted section in sellers hub. Not everyone has item numbers at their fingertips. Normally Sellers Hub matches Active Listings. Except for these 2 recent occurrences.

Sadly no real accountability when there are issues on the eBay side. Either they get fixed....Eventually or hang around until there is some sort of an actual uproar.

The one other major concern in all this(or similar type temporary eBay glitches) is just maybe someone is watching an item and it disappears. Suddenly invisible for who knows how long. For whatever reason. This potential buyer may decide to go elsewhere. This potential lost sale sale is nothing a seller has done. And there is no accountability for this lost sale for who is really responsible.

Watchers watch.

Buyers buy.

The recent option to send Offers to Watchers (without identifying the watcher to the seller) has solidified my opinion that watchers are not really likely to buy... ever.... at any price.

I tend to agree with your conclusions. Every so often one is surprised by an accepted offer. My guess is many watchers are sellers monitoring prices.  I would be curious to know if anyone has the numbers on this offer feature and if a watcher purchases at max price if they are still getting the offers after the fact. And the other scenario what happens when a watcher adds and removes and then adds that item to their watch list. One chance to receive an offer or several?

Apparently this has been observed on dot com as well with a variety of endings and conclusions.

The items that have disappeared mostly were probably on dotCA, because they seem to be mostly thicker than 2cm, and therefore I list them on dotCA where I can use Calculated Shipping. But I've only emptied three boxes so far and most of those were larger books.

We'll see how it goes when I'm actually done in a week or so.

Fortunately at the time of the Great Currency Change, I started keeping all my scans as well as all my descriptions, so relisting the missing items should be merely tiresome.

More than 40 of my items for sale have disappeared. They are supposed to be re-listed automatically when the sale time ends. I called eBay and they re-established the seamless re-listing when an item sale ends. However, they said nothing could be done for the missing 40 as it's a glitch in the software. This happened once before, but only to one item. Same eBay response. Nothing can be done. In my seller ended link there is a zero. Any help, please?

ZOMBIE THREAD from 2020

The problem with zombie threads is that the information and advice may be out of date and incorrect.

In the short run, you can contact eBay employees through social media (The phone clerks do not work for eBay, they are subcontractors.)
