Canada Post Possible Stike

What happens now that orders are in the mail with a possible expected delivery date of September 30 and early October, what happens if not received there is no way of knowing whether these items will be received after strike is over.  Will eBay delay delivery date?

I'm not going to "come here and say" that, but I will point out that both parties are surely keenly aware of the high stakes at play here.  Neither side wants to do anything that's going to jeopardize either the future viability of the corporation or the job security of thousands of employees.

It was during July and August of 2016  that we learned how to deal with the uncertainty of when a strike might start.  We have learned what to do.  In 2016 it was my choice to go on vacation for July and August.  This was not a comfortable option, but it worked.  2018 reflects my choice from 2016.

Each Canadian seller on eBay has made adjustments, and will  follow this reality day-by-day..

It has been my choice  to go on vacation.  Doing so has allowed me to focus on finding new inventory to sell on eBay.     The last three days, Thursday , Friday and Saturday,  have been a major focus  on a very large sale of books....   Charity book sales, both big and small  have occurred one a week for the last 4 weeks.

I will be ready for the end of this Canada Post situation.

Their discussion centered on Canada Post   

A Quote from the website .....

"Discussions were frank, open, and touched on common ground: a vision of Canada Post as a highly-valued public service, as well as, the crucial task of maintaining long-term viability."

Now CUPW wants Canada Post to respond to CUPW"s global offers (from September 4)  and negotiations should continue.

and as CUPW indicated  "Stay Tuned"

I received a heavy book shipment from Spain by DHL and paid for $25.00 shipping and it arrived in 4 days.  I got to wonder if DHL can offer those low rates while Canada Post can't, Canada Post charges around $45.00 to 60.00.  Obvious Canada Post is greedy??

Spain has almost 1.5 times Canada's population in one-twentieth the geographical area, for starters.

DHL is actually a German company.

Same points though.

Considering how compact (by Canadian standards) the European Union is and that it is the world's second largest economy* and its large prosperous literate population, DHL has a good base for its outreach.

An update from the CUPW website.....

(1) CUPW received counter proposals from Canada Post for both the RSMC and Urban Operations bargaining units.

(2) CUPW's negotiating committee will be meeting with Canada Post to discuss and clarify the proposals. The results of these meetings will be reviewed to determine CUPW's  next steps.

Negotiations continue

In this morning's Winnipeg Free Press....

CUPW and Canada Post are having daily discussions.

CUPW president is quoted   " The offers are disappointing, Canada Post still hasn't addressed any of our major issues."

Thank you, I was interested to see Canada Post Corporation quoted per their feelings around progress on negotiations but the linked story contained none of that so I'll wait and see.....
