What happens now that orders are in the mail with a possible expected delivery date of September 30 and early October, what happens if not received there is no way of knowing whether these items will be received after strike is over. Will eBay delay delivery date?

I have no association with Canada Post or with CUPW.
My background is agriculture specifically the Animal Sciences.... beef cattle
I sell books... Canadian history on eBay... These books were my focus for the last 10 years.
and I have learned a lot about how Canada "works"... and I am following this strike closely and am learning a lot in the process.....
I sold a broad range of items on my first 5 years on eBay.... Been on eBay since 2003!
My understanding of Canada has been derived from the books I sell

My understanding of something is based on .... Systems Modeling .....
and this has been applied to my understanding of this CUPW --- Canada Post situation
My conclusion ... Rotating strikes have created a mess for online sellers.
Now.... Who created the rotating strikes?

I've said before that I think what's really wrong, whats really needed to fix it is something in between what we're seeing in the press.
Neither side has behaved well which worries me if that will continue despite legislation.
I do find it interesting if you see all the reactions and feelings amongst us here, generally they are widely different, virtually no two are the same.
I've even taken a few minutes to review the responses of folks to the news stories and on the CUPW corrupted website and there too are a lot of wildly different perspectives, thoughts and ideas.
I find myself thankful that I'm not on the negotiating team and that I left the large corporate world behind 10 years ago.
Of course like all the rest of us, I now have different things to worry about.....

Binding arbitration works wonders in other sectors. It will be the final stage here if negotiations fail if we are to assume back-to-work legislation is approved by the Senate tomorrow afternoon.
I've seen it in action: binding arbitration as the end result in teacher contract negotiations. Those people are experts at cutting through all the chaff thrown at them to make a deal that's totally fair to both parties. I highly recommend it for essential services.

The Government must be careful with the back to work legislation.
The main consideration should not be the relationship between CUPW and Canada Post.
The legislation should address the prevention of collateral damage... and the effect on online sellers.... and buyers...
I get this focus from some of the comments by Government people that have been quoted and published in newspapers.
The legislation must also state that negotiations between CUPW and Canada Post must continue...
Finally the Government must acknowledge the negative effect of how such a strike affected online sellers. It must be understood that such a strike must never happen again....

Also, I share your suspicions about how and where (and who) turned this pear-shaped and totally respect the varying opinions being offered. I do, however, try to avoid the Comment sections offered on news stories the same as I would walking into a barroom in the middle of the day to hear what the local drunks are arguing about.

I think that was uncalled for.
My point is simply that there is no 100% complete or reliable information on the negotiations right now and we can't make any assumptions on who is making concessions and who isn't.

Hello everyone,
This thread is getting a bit heated. Please remember that it’s fine to disagree with others, but discussion should always remain courteous and respectful.

Now is the time we should be looking towards a new reality....Back to work legislation will be law, most likely on Tuesday.
It may take a while for everything to settle down.
---------------------------------
The record of the Parliamentary debate was most interesting..... It was like going around in circles..... and every once in a while encountering a brick wall.
Many debaters chose to ignore the effect of the strike on small businesses.... Their focus was the detrimental effect of legislation on the Union. Something that many will most likely question.
Government Minister Haydu appeared to be the only person that consistently mentioned the effect of the strike on on all Canadians, with a specific reference to small business.

I just want to know if when this discussion reaches 500 posts do we all get 10 free shipments with Canadapost and 100 listings with no sellers fees and this strike will be automagically ended with all parcels suddenly being delivered? Ooopsie, too much eggnog!! My apologies!!!
