The Canadian market in itself is near worthless, compared to the American market. Even though the population of Canada is 10% of the U.S. or so, Canada's Ebay market is maybe 1/50th the size of the U.S. market mostly because of lack of disposible income, compared to Americans. .CA just functions to appeal to people living in trailers maybe in the boondocks of Saskatchewan or Alberta, the people who used to buy everything from the Canadian Sears or Eaton's catalogs. What Ebay could do is fix the shipping system on .COM so it could allow for different pricing of Canada from the rest of the world (aside from the U.S.) because if you go with fixed shipping costs (you can't do calculated from Canada on Ebay.com) you have to price Canada the same as the overseas markets, which is ridiculous since it is far cheaper to ship TO Canada FROM Canada than Canada to Europe, say.

"Ebay should get rid of ebay.ca"....I ben a-sayin' that fer years & years....ain't you been a-readin'my posts over the years???
However, IF you are so disgruntled with the way eBay runs ITS business, why you still listing/selling here?
Me thinks you are still making sufficient $ to ease your pain,eh?

Ebay Canada is for TAX purposes only, it has to exist in Canada if it wants to operate in Canada...

Canadian market is worthless?
Well, seeing at my numbers and sales, I highly disagree with you.
".CA just functions to appeal to people living in trailers maybe in the boondocks of Saskatchewan or Alberta, the people who used to buy everything from the Canadian Sears or Eaton's catalogs. "
Wow.. Just wow.
That's untrue and disrespectful of users.

80% of my sales are within Canada.

I disagree...strongly! What is your issue with ebay.ca?
In 2024 57% of my sales were to Canadians, they like to be able to pay in Canadian Dollars and I like to receive Canadian Dollars. I also enjoy the lower fees on .ca (not huge but enough to be very worthwhile)
You are of course able to switch to .com anytime you want to (for everything except Payouts).
FYI - If you are listing on .com you CAN have different shipping rates for different International destinations.

I disagree, while ebay.ca may be a shadow of the ebay .com in terms of support and features, it is still very useful and if it wasnt nobody would use it.

Strongly disagree. eBay Canada should expand and grow membership.

I disagree as well. I prefer to sell through ebay.ca. I set the actual delivery charges (Not Ebay) and I charge accordingly and right. Ebay.com's shipping charges is very expensive. I just paid $71 USD for a USPS bag delivery. I can see the freight charge under the original label being $17. (charges to Ebay from USPS. )
I may be wrong on this...
But when I ship through ebay.ca I can offer a discount on shipping charges. Not a purchase discount... a discount on shipping. It comes up as "Each addition cost". Ex. Shipping 1 widget with cost $20 to ship, "Each additional cost" with $3 each....
That could be on the .com, but I dont see it.
Through ebay.com... your parcel has to go through their global shipping warehouse. That's why deliveries are slow... and cost so much. (You can thank the US gov't for that).
I've been on ebay for 20+ years now... Ebay is hard to deal with... and they are getting very expensive.
My sales on Ebay are decreasing every year... There are other platforms and more to come.
Ebay needs a very serious overhaul... or they will be dust.

There's no reason why you can't do this yourself (sell on .COM only), it was only a few years ago that I began listing items on .CA, prior to that I lived 95%* of the time on .COM and 100% of my items were on .COM.
It is entirely possible to be a .CA ebay seller and only sell on .COM. It has its own trials and tribulations especially with the recent tariff situation. (ie I can't block americans from buying .COM items because you can't block the domestic country).
My stuff is listed about half and half on .COM and .CA. I'll let the numbers speak for themselves, I sold 29% more $$$ value on .CA compared to .COM in the last 90 days.
*except the time I spent on these boards.

While most of my customers are in the USA, which has 10x the population of Canada, this has been dropping in the past five years.
Perhaps this is fallout from COVID?
DotCA allows me to use Calculated Shipping for bulky and heavy items. Even selling stamps this is worthwhile.
DotCA has negotiated discounts with Canada Post, and possibly with other carriers I don't use. Some of these are much more generous than those available to US sellers.
I was selling when dotCOM was the only site available, but at that time (1998) neither payment processing nor shipping labels were available from any carrier.
Dot CA has some lower fees than dot COM, although this is probably an oversight complicated by fluctuating exchange rates.
And in any case:
Elbows UP!

I have alternated my listings between .COM &.CA for many years now....there were years when I only listed on.COM; there were years when I listed only on.CA, now I just alternate between .COM &.CA and let the buyers decide if they want to purchase on.COM or on .CA...either way I still get buyers from both Canada & USA. Because I am a casual/infrequent seller I can list however,whichever,whenever,wherever....

Dear Sir;
This is posted by eBay Canada for the forum guidelines:
The eBay Community is a peer-to-peer support community.
While eBay employees will be on the discussion boards from time to time, the Community is not a dedicated customer service channel. This is a peer-to-peer support community – inclusive of sellers, buyers, and eBay employees. It is a place to get tips and advice from Community members.
Posts like this generate controversy . They are usually undefended "HIT & RUN" posts. The OP posts and then leaves the conversation.
I would like to see eBay Canada rebuild to where it was in it's earlier days. The USA built it but in the current political climate that ain't gonna happen. WE have to support it and this is a great time to do that!
I personally would like to see MORE support for eBay Canada sellers and particularliy for sellers who aren't within 100 miles of the US border.
Canadian sellers in the interior up to our northern Canadian communities have a lot to sell and share on eBay Canada that is different and unique from other sellers. Just as you do they rely on this additional income they may generate on eBay Canada using Canada Post, especially the seniors.
I personally find your post offensive and non supportive of the eBay Canada Community that extends to Ellesmere Island in Nunavut. Canada is not Mississaugua.

sounds like a great idea for some - and as long as I can easily bar American customers from my store I guess its ok it might help with all the bugs that's are in the system that the .com sellers don't have- I am for it then
