Merry Christmas Canada!

"Twas the month before Christmas, when all through the land,
Not a parcel was shipping, by Canada's Post's hands.
The orders were processed by Ebay with care,
In hopes that a mailman soon would be there?"

Re: Merry Christmas Canada!

The ebayers wondered: what about our sales?

All those items on listings, with clients no avail

The union would say: it's  not us with the rales

We want our pension, no matter if they fail.

Re: Merry Christmas Canada!

O the Christmas season was nigh,

Posties are on strike, but why?

Going bankrupt, or can't back down, each has their reason,

A most terrible way for them to bless us this season.

Re: Merry Christmas Canada!

When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
Trudeau almost left Taylor Swift to see what was the matter.
Away to the window, Amazon vans flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw them my cash.

Re: Merry Christmas Canada!

Oh whose fault could it be?

Was it the union? Was it CP?

For the folks at Chit Chats, UPS & all

They were hearing the dings  of more pick up calls!!

Apologies....I've never had a licence to be poetic!!

Re: Merry Christmas Canada!

@mapleleaf-collectibles It's hard to get into the spirit when businesses are failing.

eBayCanada sellers have endured years of struggle. Canada Post and it's union just

stopped,  on a dime, in 4th quarter eliminating income and expectations for seniors like myself to pay bills.

This strike was a planned, purposeful economic "bomb" with casualties that hurt rural folks and their families who rely on CP.  Unfortunately it worked this time.

Last time (2019) eBay Canada, with Adriana Stairs at the helm, eBay ca helped us by stepping in and lobbying government for an end. She was definately a gift. This time "Nutta"... we're all getting coal.

I can't imagine how many eBay CANADA families are making hard decisions at this time. I personally think it will end in a few days with govt intervention. that said I'm totally in agreement wih @flipisitics.

The damage is already done.

@mapleleaf-collectibles  Thank you for this attempt to make light of a grim situation adding some relief.  My Christmas wish would be for eBay Canada to re-establish business in Canada and step up to the plate to represent sellers at tough times like this.

Re: Merry Christmas Canada!

This is the 3rd postal stoppage since I have been selling on Ebay in 23+ years.  After the first one I realized selling on Ebay for a living is very hard, not worth it sometimes, and there are a lot of curveballs that get thrown your way trying to make even a part time living on Ebay. There are things we have no control over, like Canada Post Strikes, Canada Post and Ebay Increases in fee's and shipping, being forced to use Paypal for payments, my computer died, my scanner/printer died, covid supply chain issues, item not delivered without tracking, negative feedback, the list goes on and on.  This is not the end of selling on Ebay, but it could be the end of Canada Post as we know it today, so if you are making your living solely as a online seller in Canada,  I would be prepared for many months of postal disruption and a new way of doing things in 3-6 months, that is going to cost all of us more. No haha. Merry Christmas.

Re: Merry Christmas Canada!

Sorry intimewithmusic, we must have been commenting at the same time, your post was there in yet when I was doing mine. In the sea of negatives about the strike I read some of these verses here and appreciative the creativity! Like I said it's better to try and laugh then cry, (when handed lemons make lemonade).

I am certainly aware of how serious the situation is, I was simply appreciating that some people could still have a sense of humour during our time of woe -  I had recently seen the pics of Trudeau dancing at Taylor Swifts concert so mapleleaf-collectibles' rhyme struck me as cleverly creative, I believe that was their intention with this post. Sorry if you took offense to my comment, I wouldn't have posted it after yours but that's the way these threads go sometimes, we must have hit reply at the same moment and you got in first.

Re: Merry Christmas Canada!

I agree with you, brother. I was counting on the extra income generated by Ebay. To have it stripped away at the most profitable and costly time of year has been a real upset.

Not trying to dismiss anything you've typed in your excellent post, but I feel I should point out that selling in general is very difficult.  Consider what traditional brick and mortar retailers--be they big or small--have to deal with on a regular basis in addition to the challenges you've mentioned.
