More DT Insanity - Stay tuned for updates

If Trump again moves to privatize Postal Service, here’s what it’ll mean for your deliveries

https://www.cnn.com/2025/02/21/business/trump-postal-service-privatization/index.html

Why's, how's and wherefor's!!!

Similar to the mess Canadian's -  Both senders and receivers (especially end of mile users)  would be in if Canada Post was privatized!!!

Not worrying about something that hasn't happened...

we all know DT is so out of control right now that he himself does not have a clue what he is doing from one hour to the next...

The USA itself is currently in such chaos that no one, not even DT has any idea what will happen 1 minute from now, 1 hr from now, 1 day from now....

There is no point to speculation, heresay, or any "news story" coming out of the USA, as that changes by the minute, by the hour,by the day...

whatever happens we will accept, adapt, adjust and carry on!

C'est la vie!

Que sera,sera!

He's had a fixtation with the postal service since last administration. Howard Lutnick is to be sworn in shortly as commerce secretary. As far as it goes for them denying anything is possibly in the works, it usually means it is!! Lost track of the number of times I've heard recently "throw it against the wall and see what sticks!!!"

Multiple published reports late Thursday indicated an executive order targeting the USPS could come as soon as this week and aim to dissolve the USPS governing board and place the agency under the Commerce Department.

Hey Lotz, Further to your link this is from a Feb 20 post by a well known US sellers blog;

"

President Trump May Soon Control the Mail
By: Ina Steiner

President Trump will reportedly disband the Board of Governors overseeing the Postal Service and move the independent agency under the control of executive branch's Commerce Department. The Washington Post spoke to people familiar with the situation and said Trump is expected to issue an executive order as early as this week.

The hijacking report comes 2 days after Postmaster General Louis DeJoy announced he would step down from his post heading the USPS after 5 years of service.

"When you control the mail, you control - information," sitcom Seinfeld's fictional mailman Newman famously said. But online sellers don't find shipping matters a laughing matter given the relentless rise in shipping costs (which also increases the cost of marketplace commission fees) and demanding customers who expect fast delivery.

If the report is true, it could be the reason UPS decided to recently bring 100% of its SurePost offering in-house rather than using USPS for some of the last-mile deliveries. If that's the case, it might not bode well for sellers if UPS doesn't have confidence in a transformed USPS.

The Trump administration is currently slashing costs and firing staff at many federal agencies in a scorched earth fashion, with major disruption causing fear, uncertainty, and doubt. That could concern sellers who rely on the USPS to deliver their packages.

On the other hand, sellers may be hopeful that the president can cut through bureaucracy and provide a more efficient and cost-effective service."

Given that Dejoy recently stepped down out of the blue, there's probably some legs to this rumor. One positive is that some politicians here have been pushing for these types of things for a long time now. Once we see the mess it creates in the States, it should shut down the possibility of it happening here (at least for a long while).

One of DT's comments was because of the UPS's, Fedex's and Amazon's of the world, there was nothing to worry about for end of road/rural/remote deliveries. Don't say that too loud to anyone that falls in that category when they can't get their life important meds delivered.

Re: More DT Insanity - Stay tuned for updates

Not surprising he wants direct control of the postal system.  Makes it far easier to rig future elections.  Imagine the 'flood' of Republican votes that will come through the mail next election, with scarcely a Democrat vote to be found.

Supressing the media....check

Controling the legal system.....check

Controling the flow of mail.....check.

A very productive first month for Herr Trump.

@mrdutch1001

It's beyond words that he is convinced the war in Ukraine was entirely their fault!! Like they wouldn't try to defend themselves when be shot at or not shoot back? And guess all the infastructure jumped in the way of the incoming rounds!!!  Wrong place, wrong time!!!

Re: More DT Insanity - Stay tuned for updates

He's not convinced it was Ukraine's fault, he's lying.  Donald Trump lies a lot.  In fact he lies so much he has no idea any longer what reality is.

He's following Hitler's playbook pretty much to the letter.   Instead of the Jews, Trump has the Immigrants.  He accusses others of fake crimes as an excuse for retaliations and national security executive orders.  If you ever have the chance to see the documentary 'Rise of the Nazis' watch it....you'll be amazed at the parallels between Hitler's coming to power and Trump's.

Anyway, Trump is only saying Ukraine started the war to pressure Zelenskyy to sign over half of Ukraine's precious mineral reserves to the US as compensation for past military aid; note this is not for any future military aid.  Zelenskyy has refused unless their are iron clad security guarantees, which Trump has not offered.....not any in fact.  So Trump does Trump 101 and insults, threatens and lies to pressure Zelenskyy into folding, under the threat of being crushed under by Russia, with Trump's help.

And since most of the American public are sleep walking through life, they just believe what Trump says and Trump gets away with it , like he has done his entire life.

I think you have that statement reversed.

The fascist dictator is on the brink of owning the USA.

I watched that series a few years ago and then again more recently. That Doc could have been called Rise Of The MAGA's.  You can easily substitute the characters of 1920's for the current pack, the goals and playbook are pretty much exactly the same.

Which of Adolph's gang is now being played by Stephen Miller?

He's also quoted as telling people they will not have to vote again after the 2024 election.

Donald Trump’s first two weeks in the White House have followed Bannon’s strategy like a script. The flood is the point. The overwhelm is the point. The message wasn’t in any one executive order or announcement. It was in the cumulative effect of all of them. The sense that this is Trump’s country now. This is his government now. It follows his will.  It does what he wants.  If Trump tells the state to stop spending money, the money stops.  If he says that birthright citizenship is over, it’s over.

Or so he wants you to think. In Trump’s first term, we were told: Don’t normalize him. In his second, the task is different: Don’t believe him.

There is a reason Trump is doing all of this through executive orders rather than submitting these same directives as legislation to pass through Congress.  A more powerful executive could persuade Congress to eliminate the spending he opposes or reform the civil service to give himself the powers of hiring and firing that he seeks.  To write these changes into legislation would make them more durable and allow him to argue their merits in a more strategic way....but Republicans have a three-seat edge in the House and a six-seat majority in the Senate. Trump has done nothing to reach out to Democrats.  If Trump tried to pass this agenda as legislation, it would most likely fail in the House, and it would certainly die before the filibuster in the Senate.  And that would make Trump look weak.

That is the tension at the heart of Trump’s whole strategy: Trump is acting like a king because he is too weak to govern like a president. He is trying to substitute perception for reality. He is hoping that perception then becomes reality.  That can only happen if we believe him.
