Possible CP strike, when are you stopping shipping?

Possible CP strike May 22/25, when are you stopping shipping?  Last strike, I had quite a few stuck in the mail and I don't want that to happen again.  I was thinking of putting my listings on time away from May 12 as a lot of my sales are from eastern Canada and I am in Vancouver.

What are you doing?

If things go gloomy, I am thinking May 15 is a good date. Five days of leeway, roughly.

This is slow/downtimes for me but even saying that, as a casual /infrequent seller, sales are few & far between at best of times so not expecting much for sales over the next few months anyway so I really do not feel I have to stop listing or stop selling or stop shipping...If needed/when needed/as needed, I will do as did previously > find a way to ship via netParcel through PayPal. Whenever that sales happens, I will then assess what method of shipping to utilize to assure that the item arrives at its destination within an acceptable time frame.

I'm having surgery May 15, so I'll put mine on time away a couple of days ahead.

I return to work around May 26, so if there's no strike, I'll be back online then, if there is a strike I'll come back when it's over. I have to put time away for both stores since my dot com store ships 40% of it's items Canada Post (now that Stallion doesn't accept untracked shipments anymore).

Work has rules about paying sick leave and second sources of income, so my return to eBay is tied to my return to work, unless a strike keeps me away longer.

A tip for anybody who plans to use UPS. You can sign up for "on route" pickups, which will save you a lot of money. They no longer do $1 pickups because of the increase in volume they faced during the original strike. They also cancelled pickups altogether for non-business customers. If you create a business account (even if you use a residential address), you can do on route pickups. I don't know if the price varies by location, but it cost me about $8 a week last time around.

All I plan to do is switch everything from Canada Post to UPS calculated shipping. Unfortunately, I cannot do "free shipping" because the prices for UPS can vary drastically by location. For "lettermail" type items, I won't remove them. I'll keep them up with calculated rates that nobody will pay for. It's less of a hassle than removing them because when Canada Post resumes all I need to do is change the shipping policy back.

I plan to switch to alternate carriers around the 15th.  I'll likely be using mostly UPS, Sendle, and ICS.

A reminder for people to make sure you also disable shipping to PO Boxes.

Are you/ will you be using rate tables? I am currently based on lowest rates Stallion gives for all the various shipping regions of Canada. Will update around the 15th as well, using lowest rates that aren't CP.

Yeah. I don't have Chit Chats or Stallion here so I base mine on Sendle / ICS.

Thanks for your reply - do you need to set up a commercial account with ICS? I don't think Stallion has partnered with them.

You can access them through ClickShip if you create an account there.  Sendle and ICS vary. Sometimes one is cheaper, sometimes the other.
