Just wondering if I am having bad luck
I've only shipped 2 tracked parcels since Monday
The first one was shipped on Monday Oct. 22 the first day of the rotating strikes, and the places that were on strike should not have affected my shipment. It should have been scanned at Missisauga that evening and then gone out for delivery the next day. So far I have not seen the Missisauga scan, and the delivery date has been changed on the tracking page to Oct. 31 for a parcel that should have been at its destination today at the latest. Normally it would have been there yesterday.
The other parcel was not eBay related, but a Free Shipping Tuesday item that I sent to a friend. It was shipped Oct. 23 and was just going a few miles and tracking said it was delivered this morning on schedule BUT my friend did not receive the parcel or any notice of attempted delivery. She has looked and asked around, but nothing is there.
So, from my experience 100% failure on a very small sampling, I have to wonder if there is more going on at Canada Post than just Rotating Strikes. Up until now I have never had an issue, and now all of a sudden 2 in a row. I hate to think where my lettermail shipments have ended up.
How is everyone else doing?

For anyone interested, this is the announcement that was posted on the dot com board Oct 23, 2018.

Not sure how many US or International buyers would be looking here for information on a postal strike in Canada and any possible delays.

I doubt that many buyers even read the announcements and even less probably know that there are discussion boards on .ca. 🙂
Regarding strike delivery times...
A package was shipped to me from Kitchener on Monday with CP expedited and it was delivered first thing this morning. That is faster than normal!

New generic message you may see during the strike:
2018/11/01 00:01 Canada Delivery may be delayed due to labour disruption
Item originated in Richmond on Oct 31, 2018
13 Hours after the Canada scan the item was showing processed in Calgary.
All you can do is keep checking for new updates online or sign up for email updates for any trackable items.

Expedited parcel to USA.
Mailed Monday, processed at sorting plant Tuesday, arrived in USA Wednesday, delivered Friday. On target speed.
Expedited "free" parcel to Canada.
Mailed Tuesday, processed at sorting plant Thursday (1 day delay), destination city currently on strike, so delivery expected Monday (1 day delay). So a two day delay compared to usual.
Incoming package.
Still waiting, it has managed to hit 3 strike zones on it's path to me. Delayed, but still inside the acceptable delivery time range.

Not tracked - a Small Packet Air from Calgary to Berlin, Germany.
Mailed Oct 22 - was rec'd Nov 2.
I was afraid this one would be stuck in the rotating strikes down east but no, it made good time.
I had advised it might be delayed so he was thrilled it came early.

Tracked Packet to the USA from Calgary.
Mailed Oct 31 - has gone directly from Calgary to San Francisco Nov 2 - normally it would have to go through Richmond so a direct exit to the US is great.

That's fast to Germany! Sometimes their customs can really slow things down. Perhaps it has improved now.

Where was the next scan for your item, @lucitabby? Just curious.

Untracked incoming package, lettermail, same province, October 26 to November 8.
Managed to hit 3 strike zones on it's path to me.
2 days past ebay's time estimate delivery time range. I have switched to listing with the generic economy shipping choice, instead of Canada Post lettermail. The extra 10 days allowed by the generic is a better match to reality.
Xpresspost parcel, free Oct 30 label, mailed Oct 30, delivered Nov 6
Normal delivery would have been November 1.
Expedited parcel, free Nov 6 label, mailed Nov 7, delivered Nov 9
Normal delivery time.
Expedited parcel, mailed Nov 8, delivered Nov 9
This one normally would have gone as oversize lettermail, but I coughed up an extra $6 for peace-of-mind. I was surprised with no delay.

Express Post parcel from Toronto to Alberta sent Wed Nov 7th, accepted at Canada Post post office, no other scans so far. Wouldn’t have left the post office until Thursday at least, due to work stoppage.

Incoming, from China (Orange Connex, then Canada Post): 3 days to ship, 7 days from China, 1 day customs, 7 days Canada Post. Overall: a week faster than the earliest time estimate.
Incoming, from Canada, Xpresspost, 2 business days late, arrived Nov 14
Remembrance Day weekend sale, Monday 12 was a holiday, Tuesday 13 sorting plant on strike, so mailed Wednesday 14, scanned at sorting plant Friday 16, delivered Monday 19 in destination city.
Normally, I would have mailed on Tuesday with a Thursday delivery. Effectively a two business day delay.
...
No eBay sales since then.
...
All my eBay sales since the strikes started have been delivered with no INRs.
...
In the last few days the only eBay listings I am letting remain are those that have tracking (or are pickup only). Any untracked listings have been closed.
