eBay charging for shipping fees 7 months later. Is this fair?

eBay ding me for shipping label I purchased from Canada Post, seven months later?
Not fair. Why the delay. Had no idea It was not paid for after purchase. Seven months a long time to reconcile this. Should I be entitled to a refund from Canada Post via eBay for delaying charges for no reason? Parcel was delivered in four days

Same for me, it is under all transactions as well and I got all my info by clicking view. I  was billed for 2 yesterday, and since January 22nd was the date they said they were billing these "missed" charges I'm assuming (hoping) that will be it. According to my records there aren't any more pending.

I got a charge for four September/October labels today - 48 dollars in total. I still don't have any problem with these late charges... I am just surprised, that's all.

I had 8 labels go through yesterday that were old (Oldest was from Aug 5th, newest was Oct. 28th) totaling $83.24.  Hopefully this is a one time thing and not something that will go in the future. Also would have been nice to get more notice than just 1 week before the charges roll through.

I know they said in the original email that selling costs/fees etc were not being charged, but what about Refunds?

Is there a common theme in all these "charges"

Service Used

I was charged about 3 weeks ago for a label I made for a package I shipped to New Zealand at the end of July months ago, but that was the only one.

I was not billed anything on the 22/23 Jan & I did get the "Automated" notification like all...

Different destinations in the US and International, all Tracked Packet - but I almost don't use any other service (only 3% of my customers are from Canada).

Does not seem to by any "theme". One of mine was for a UPS label, so its not just CP labels.

I had 5 late charges total, two on January 22nd (for September & October) and 3 in October (for July).

They were all within Canada, two were Expedited Lite, the other three were Expedited Parcel.

Not sure why these ones were any different than the others I sent same time frame with same service that were billed normally.

Coincidence or not none of my Tracked Package USA or Tracked Package International were affected.

This looks like an "eBay" issue with its interactions/transactions and with many shipping platforms it uses in its eBay labels interface (why am I not surprised), Canada Post, UPS, Fed Ex, looks like the labels were being generated but not charged to the respective "Shipping" services or Sellers (or at least a few).

We're on day 3, the label charges still rolling in, about 25 so far. Dates mostly early Oct, some September. I keep tight books, surprised I didn't notice all these missing charges. Sort it out later.

If it is impossible for eBay to charge for shipping fees in a timely manner there needs to be a way of holding, at our discretion an "emergency" balance. Not perfect but better than what we have now. With PayPal/CP, CP labels(directly) and Shippo we were in control of how those charges got paid. It seems now eBay is more in control. I personally have never liked the concept of my eBay/bank account funds being a "float" for eBay to access at their whim but we never really had much of a say in the matter.

As I posted previously there needs to be a improved way to reconcile these charges as they are being processed.  A checkbox option should not be a major job of programming in Shipping Labels & All Transactions. (I'm old school. I still remembers how to balance a chequebook. Remember when each line item included the balance after the credit/debit?). That  should have been there from the beginning. (In checking recent charges for labels it doesn't even specify the date the label was created. Only a date it was processed/billed triggered by eBay to us. Similar to the display when funds cleared.

Re: eBay charging for shipping fees 7 months later. Is this fair?

they are getting alot better in billing, most appear the day after the date the label was purchased.  back in the day (last summer) I did notice quite a few were missing or not billed for several weeks.  At the end of the day when I got my recoup bill, it wasnt as bad as I thought.  As I'm sure many of us have noticed that customers had developed blue balls of sorts for buying stuff online thanks to the CP strike and went nuts (bahaha) once the back to work notice was issued.  I'm just this week starting to notice a bit of a slowdown of sales from Canadian customers.
