How long to wait for GSP item to before I file a INR?

I purchased something and it has been a month.  It was paid with a paypal balance, when should I file a claim as not received?

Re: How long to wait for GSP item to before I file a INR?

GSP has never been a good fit for Canadian buyers, although it is more useful now that US and Mexican manufactured goods are dutiable only after $150Cdn*

But it is worth mentioning that  July 8 was a Wednesday and today is Monday, only five calendar days (and three business days) later.

*Items bought in the States but manufactured elsewhere are still dutiable at $20Cdn(~$15US).
And sales taxes are charged on US/Mexican items valued at $40Cdn. dutiable or not.

I have a package that was received at Erlanger on July 8, no update at all since then. It hasn’t gone for customs and labelling either. Ebay has some serious problems in Erlanger, and I am stopping any GSP purchases going forward.

Have you tried checking the tracking information on one of Pitney Bowes' tracking sites?  Dig out your "UPA_" code and head for:

https://tracking.pb.com

https://parceltracking.pb.com

I do agree with @femmefan1946, though.  With COVID wreaking havoc on a whole bunch of delivery networks, it really hasn't been that long since your item's last recorded scan on eBay.

Besides, we buyers have been brainwashed into thinking that tracking is some sort of magic pill for everything.  You know you don't have your item yet.  You don't need tracking to confirm that.

Where can I find this UPA number?

On the tracking page on Ebay, all it shows is a FedEx tracking number.

Re: How long to wait for GSP item to before I file a INR?

The UPA is the number I always check. Its last update is July 8, package arrived at Erlanger. The USPS number, which ends at the point of delivery in Erlanger says the same. I know that it will eventually unclog itself, but combine Erlanger with Canada Post and a few packages will start getting close to the end of the 30 day past last estimated arrival date. I just don’t need the hassle anymore. And yes, if Canadian sellers had what I collect, they would be the first I would buy from. Unfortunately I collect antique sterling silver pieces that were only made by an American manufacturer, and very few made their way to Canada over the decades.

I receive the UPA_ number in confirmation emails I receive from eBay.  Check your inbox.

Are you checking the UPA_ number on the Pitney Bowes tracking sites?  I'm not clear on this part.

If those sites aren't showing any additional information, it doesn't mean that your item is stuck there.  It may be that given current circumstances, items aren't being scanned before leaving the Global Shipping Center, or that the items are being scanned and the scan data isn't being transmitted properly.

There have been a few reports of items having no scan data after Erlanger but suddenly showing up online again a day or so before actually being delivered.  Are you able to to track your item on the carrier's website yet?  There may be a link for you to tap or click by the "progress meter" on the tracking page to take you to the website for the next carrier handling your item.  (It may not be Canada Post!)

Having said all that, knowing where your item has been and when it's been there is not nearly as important as receiving your item in its promised condition within the timeframe specified on the listing page.  An undelivered item is an undelivered item, no matter how tracked it is.  You're right to be keeping an eye on that day that's 30 days after the last estimated delivery date.

It's mid-month, has your purchase arrived?

Have you opened a Dispute?

Under Murphy's Law, opening the Dispute will mean the purchase will be delivered within hours.

That's why it's Murphy's LAW and not Murphy's notion.

Re: How long to wait for GSP item to before I file a INR?

An interesting development with the last two GSP packages from Erlanger. They both took about eight days from arriving at Erlanger to leaving Erlanger, but both then were delivered to me three days later, both by Intelcom, bypassing Canada Post. So a few extra days in Erlanger, but much faster being delivered from there. The really good news, I am now taking a break from GSP US sellers, and rediscovering Canadian sellers of high end sterling silver hollow ware. As Dorothy said “There’s no place like home!”

Re: How long to wait for GSP item to before I file a INR?

I also have a large item currently sitting at the hub in Kentucky for the last five days without sign of life: a portable washing machine. (I hope it doesn't suffer the same fate at the last thing shipped through GSP and arrive in shards.) My purchase is a clunky and large item and not particularly valuable but hard to find. If I have it in one piece by the end of the month, it will surpass my hopes.

Re: How long to wait for GSP item to before I file a INR?

Intelcom was handed my parcel from global shipping program and they brought it to my
condo then left it outside on the pavement 6 feet from a public sidewalk in a terrible neighborhood! My neighbour intercepted the package by chance ! And most people in this building would steal it given the opportunity let alone all those walking by . We have homeless people in our dumpsters they huddle around our entry door to use the outlet & stay warm in winter and of course they’ll take what they find! Canada post has never done this and wouldn’t ! This was my first time having to use this carrier terrible! Now I’m terrified cause I have 3 more items coming in from GSP and I imagine they’ll use Intelcom again smh . Terrible service ! I got a email delivered ! Delivered to the front door of about 300 people who walk thru thatdoor not delivered to my suite smh !! Unreal

“Intelcom” didn’t do that; a human being did. The human beings who work for the Intelcom agent serving my sub-region are pretty good eggs.

Perhaps a call to your local Intelcom agent to express (no pun intended) your concerns will help your upcoming shipments. Can’t hurt to try.
