What happens now that orders are in the mail with a possible expected delivery date of September 30 and early October, what happens if not received there is no way of knowing whether these items will be received after strike is over. Will eBay delay delivery date?

For those who do not know the GTA consists of the following
Toronto
Durham Region - Ajax, Clarington, Brock, Oshawa, Pickering, Scugog, Uxbridge, Whitby
Halton Region - Burlington, Halton Hills, Milton, Oakville
Region of Peel - Brampton (me), Caledon, Mississauga
York Region - Aurora, East Gwillimbury, Georgina, King, Markham, Newmarket, Richmond Hill, Vaughan, Whitchurch-Stouffville
Dufferin County - Mono, Orangeville
Simcoe County - Bradford West Gwillimbury, New Tecumseth
Some of these are cities others town ships but this should give you a rough idea if you have customers located or are a seller in the GTA.
Let's hope this gets resolved soon for the benefit of everyone.

I live in Durham .. mail was delivered today and was told post office was open ...

Interesting....there were some sections of the 905 that were exempt, maybe this was yours. I honestly have no idea but saying the GTA is very vauge imo without giving specifics. Part of the strategy perhaps? Who knows.

Canada Post website makes a point of saying that there will no mail pick up or delivery in Toronto but no other specific locations mentioned.

Like many Torontonians, they may be unaware that there is any other part of the Universe.

I live about 50 miles north of Toronto, so all our mail goes through the Mississauga center, so that is as far at mail would go today. I had one piece to mail, decided to wait until tomorrow, sometimes with back-up, some mail gets left in the bottom of the containers.

The critical thing is that Canada Post has 9,000 workers in Toronto.
That is close to one-quarter the total number of workers at 40,000 in the CUPW urban group.
This makes Toronto a large shut down for one day

Technically the Gateway plant is not in Toronto.
Mississauga is a different city.
I have fulfilled my pedantry quotient for today.

I think it is time a certain Airport was renamed Mississauga International.

Part of Toronto Pearson International is actually inside the current Toronto city boundary...
The airport is 31 years older than Mississauga (which was created as an unpopular community amalgamation in 1968).

October 24, 2018 – CUPW Toronto Local continues to strike
Looks like CUPW has stopped the rotation for day 3, and is repeating day 2. If so, CUPW is edging out on to the thin ice of a lockout, as Canada Post has only promised no lockout for legal rotating strikes. If it stays in the same critical spot it is not rotating.

Such aggressive tactics lol .. Around marijuana legalization now their going to shut down Canadas main hub for distributing packages 2 days in a row while leaving 40 ' 000 employees to still get paid but not get like any packages ..
Was pretty optimistic till now Lockout seems to be coming ..

The information on Marijuana sales in Ontario is that the purchase can only be received through the mail.... Canada Post.
No local stores..... Eventually Ontario will have local stores.....
Canada Post has special envelopes to use for marijuana.... No smell of marijuana if the envelope is sealed properly...
Strike locations in Ontario will affect the new reality with respect to marijuana,,,,

Where are you getting your information? There is nothing mentioned on the internet that I can find that backs up your statement....

It's right on the postal unions website and their official twitter account ....

From the CUPW website...
October 24, 2018 – CUPW Toronto Local continues to strike
This is asking for a unique Canada Post response.... The size of the Toronto work force at 9,000. and having the strike on two successive days in Toronto puts the concept of rotating strikes into a difficult situation

That's the theory, but the postal office clerk last night was saying the backroom was starting to smell a bit. She figured half the packages that arrived yesterday were marijuana shipments.
