Late mailing, 3 days without moving

I mailed a tracked package to the US around 2 p.m on Friday, and it is still saying that it is not mail when I check the tracking. Nothing I can do, it is gone, and the buyer is asking if I have mailed it. I anyone else have slow shipping?

Was the tracking manually entered in? If it was it is possible there may have been a typo. If you get parcels scanned at time of drop off the accepted scan should show at bare minimum. Not always if it went in an inside bin. Due to the holiday most likely your Friday parcel will not get its next scan until it arrives at a sort plant for forwarding to  US customs and its final destination.

As a side note many storefronts SD etc get several pick ups per day. The driver does not usually go back to sort plant until truck is full. Really depends on how busy they were.

CP? Maybe they are just doing pre-strike now.

I'm so glad I started my time away last week!

could have missed a scan or two and actually be moving.  Happens all the time with CP packages to the US.  Or they just may be slow processing, which happens to a lot to, at least to me.

Although the terminals are staffed on weekends, they don't have as many workers as during the week.

Plus the "missed scan" is nothing unusual.

To add to @reallynicestamps’ post, we just had a long weekend, and I find that that can sometimes affect how and when scan events appear in tracking information.

I’ve had my share of items from the US sent by the equivalent of Small Packet that have had no scan information after the acceptance scan, yet I’ve received it just fine.

If your buyer is simply asking if you’ve sent the item off, you can truthfully say you have. Remind them what the last estimated delivery date is and that they can get in touch with you if it hasn’t arrived by that date.

Re: Late mailing, 3 days without moving

One of two things happened.

1) It didn't get a processing scan at your local facility. It will get a scan when it hits the next facility.

2) The mailbox was picked up early and it is still sitting in the mailbox.

I wouldn't worry. Usually when this happens, if you tell the buyer with some certainty that you dropped the item off and absolutely nothing is wrong, they are fine. They just want to know that it's actually on it's way, and it isn't lost. Which, it almost certainly is not lost.

Re: Late mailing, 3 days without moving

Missed scans are very common. I drop 99 percent of my orders in a mail box. I've never had anything go missing out of thousands of tracked orders.

When items are scanned will vary based on where someone is located, but in my city there is usually a scan the same night around 7PM to 8PM, then anything US bound will get scanned in Montreal a day or two later. It isn't uncommon for the first scan not to happen.

Re: Late mailing, 3 days without moving

It was a Canada Post label with the clear tracking number. I have another one I mailed the day before, it shows "shipped to buyer" on May 14, but has not moved since. Not sure what it going on. We mail in the postal box outside the post office, my husband does all my mailing because I am disabled, but even at 84 he goes right out and mail for me, but I don't ask him to line up in the post office, never had problems before mailing in the outside box.
